About Wushu

What is Wushu?

Wushu, commonly known as Kung Fu, is a style of Chinese martial arts. It is a dynamic and flowing style using coordination, power and grace. Wushu is a very efficient method for achieving health, fitness, self-defense skills and mental discipline. It can be practiced for recreation or competition. It is one of the most exciting martial arts to be seen, felt and practiced.

What are the benefits of Wushu Training?

Wushu is one of the fastest growing sports throughout the world today.  It is a very intense sport with aspects of other sports: the flexibility of ballet, coordination of dancing, speed of track runners, the endurance of marathon runners, and the power and strength of football players.

Furthermore, Wushu benefits the mind through quick learning and self discipline. With this discipline comes Wushu’s philosophy teaching self-control and self-motivation that you can apply to everyday life.  You can be a faster learner, a better problem solver and more well rounded as a person.

Wushu also provides kids with something to do in their spare time and keeps them out of trouble.  It is a healthy way to stay in shape, both physically and mentally, and above all Wushu is lots of fun.  With time and patience, Wushu can be mastered along self-control and discipline.

At California Wushu Academy, we teach more than just Wushu. We also teach moral values and the ways to lead a healthier and more successful life. Many students have discovered that Wushu has had a positive influence on their life.
